Europe's Gap in Commercialization
Since 2000, Europe’s GDP per capita growth rate was 33% lower p.A. on average compared to the global economy.
Today:
0 of the top 10 global biggest companies are European
In Switzerland (#1 most innovative country in the world) 8 of the 10 largest firms are 50+ years old.
Today’s US Economy (#1 market in the world) is driven by companies that have been classic venture cases 20 to 30 years ago

The Source of the Problem
Europe's universities rank among the best in the world and produce some of the best academically educated talent globally. Yet, despite the clear advantage of entrepreneurial teams that mix business and technical backgrounds, most of Europe’s universities still keep talents in subject-specific “bubbles.”
Concretely in today's world business & technical talents:
are confronted with structural barriers to entry due to the ecosystem silos around the academic institutions
lack Focus on Practical Implementation during their education
are missing a “Starting Point” for cross-disciplinary collaboration

But there is hope…
The Alpine Innovation Axis between Lausanne and Munich is emerging as the most rapidly developing and economically potent innovation cluster in Europe. This corridor boasts:
Three of WIPO’s Top-50 global Science & Tech clusters: Munich, Zurich, and Milan.
Europe’s city with the highest startup formation density, with 14.5 new startups per 100,000 residents (surpassing Berlin with 13.6).
The highest patent filings per capita in Europe, with 1,085 EPO applications per million people in 2023.
Nearly €5.8 billion in venture capital raised by Bavarian, Swiss, and Italian startups in 2024.
One of Europe’s largest tech talent pools, with approximately 40,000 engineers each in Zurich and Munich.

Our Hypothesis
Today, the European Ecosystem is:
Already Investing in expanding startup support, programs and venture-friendly policies
Already backing a number of incubators, accelerators and grant schemes with the goal of producing more economically successful startups
Providing capital, mentoring and market access to top the best ventures on the Continent
We thus believe we need to:
Focus on talents at the very start of their journey, before an incorporated company or concrete founding intentions exist
Create an interdisciplinary environment business and technical talent mix on a daily basis
Amplify the “serendipity effect” for business and technical talent by getting them to interact, tinker and build real products for real customers as soon as possible
